Administrative Support Specialist

This is an administrative support position responsible for assisting the District Court Administrator with the administration and daily operation of the court system. The role involves managing the County Law Library resources, scheduling hearings, and preparing orders for court-appointed counsel. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule civil, criminal, and juvenile hearings as needed, and coordinate with attorneys, other courts, and the public.
  • Prepare orders for court-appointed counsel and scheduling orders, and communicate with attorneys and other stakeholders.
  • Manage the County Law Library resources, including negotiating contracts with Thomson Reuters.
  • Supervise tipstaves for jury selection and trials, and arrange meals and accommodations for jurors and court staff.
  • Prepare annual court calendars, coordinating dates with Judges, Public Defenders, and the District Attorney.
  • Execute administrative decisions when the District Court Administrator is absent.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, and three years of administrative or office support experience in a legal, judicial, or governmental setting.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check required.
