Schedule: Swing Shift on a 2-2-3 rotation
Position Overview
The Heavy Vehicle Operator is responsible for conducting thorough inspections of the vehicle before and after each journey, ensuring that all operational standards are met. Collaboration and teamwork are vital for achieving success in this role, as well as fostering a respectful and supportive work environment among all colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent attendance and uphold a high standard of performance.
- Adhere to both written and verbal instructions to complete tasks efficiently.
- Communicate effectively in English and possess basic mathematical skills.
- Learn from guidance, observations, and errors while applying sound judgment in procedures.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of safety and operational protocols.
- Transport goods to designated locations safely.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after trips and report on vehicle status.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of cargo.
- Deliver exceptional customer service during all delivery and pickup activities.
- Interpret and comply with company documents, including safety regulations and operational guidelines.
- Communicate in a professional manner at all times.
- Respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies.
- Operate, maintain, and repair vehicles as necessary.
- Review completed work to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
- Support and mentor team members.
- Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Exhibit flexibility in work hours, including days, nights, and weekends.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clean driving record.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
- The physical demands outlined here are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
- Ability to see well enough to complete paperwork and operate heavy machinery.
- Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues and supervisors.
- Capability to reach, bend, and perform maintenance tasks as required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- While performing job duties, the operator may be exposed to high noise levels, moving machinery, outdoor weather conditions, and fumes from fuel and lubricants.
