About the Role:
The FHPS Benefits Consultant is a key member of our team, responsible for telephonically facilitating federal employee health benefits sales and retention. This role involves welcoming new members to the Value of Blue program, introducing them to its benefits, and encouraging retention. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service experience, a consultative sales approach, and the ability to build lasting relationships with our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reach out to new members, welcoming them to the Value of Blue program and introducing them to its benefits to encourage retention.
- Influence federal employees to enroll in our products during the Open Season.
- Prospect federal employees and produce revenue through new sales.
- Provides information to current and potential enrollees to highlight and explain benefit enhancements and/or changes.
- Responds to inquiries from members and HR staff within the various federal agencies.
- Research and coordinate responses to inquiries.
- Works with FEP Customer Service and Claims to resolve member issues.
- Remains informed of the various FEHB competitor products and participates in and attends various training programs to enhance selling and servicing abilities.
Requirements:
- Requires an AA/AS/BA/BS in Sales/Marketing or experience in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of sales/service experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
- Health and Life license to be obtained and appointed within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Capabilities:
- Strong customer service experience, showcasing an ability to consistently deliver exceptional support and build lasting relationships with our clients.
- Strong experience in the Microsoft Office Suite, demonstrating proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook preferred.

We operate in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Unless specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week. Specific requirements and expectations for time onsite will be discussed as part of the hiring process. Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.
