Job Overview

This is a full-time position requiring a highly skilled and experienced Career Counselor to deliver counseling services to assigned residential and non-residential students. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of career development principles and be able to provide individual and group support to help students achieve their career aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver counseling services to assigned residential and non-residential students, providing individual and group support to help them overcome personal challenges and achieve their career goals.
  • Conduct intake assessments during the first 48 hours of enrollment, documenting student history and submitting a copy to the Health and Wellness center for review and inclusion in the student health record.
  • Provide ongoing individual social development and adjustment counseling, scheduling and conducting regular sessions to monitor student progress and address any emerging issues.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly group support sessions to identify and address specific issues, such as abuse, relationships, childcare, homesickness, language, and cultural barriers.
  • Identify students who require more intensive services and refer them to appropriate resources, ensuring intervention, implementation, and documentation of strategies to address personal issues, including mental health, medical issues, and English Language Learners.
  • Update student Personal Career Development Plans (PCDPs) on an ongoing basis, cooperating with staff to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Ensure the availability of counseling services on weekends and in emergency situations, providing a safe and supportive environment for students to access help when needed.
