Role Summary:
The Obstetric Technician is responsible for maintaining professional accountability and providing technical support for patient care in the obstetric unit.

Under the guidance of the Nursing and Medical Staff, the technician will perform a variety of tasks related to patient care, clerical duties, and surgical assistance.

This role requires collaboration with team members to achieve unit goals and ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential for patient care.
  • Assist with operational support tasks, including maintaining patient records, managing bed control, and ensuring adequate supplies.
  • Provide supportive care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) to patients, including newborns and postpartum individuals.
  • Maintain composure and efficiency during obstetrical emergencies as part of the healthcare team.
  • May be required to take on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Education:
A High School Diploma or GED is required. This position does not require certification as a Surgical Technologist.

Completion of an accredited surgical tech program is preferred but not mandatory.


Licensure:
No specific licensure is required.

Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Experience:
Prior experience in Surgical Technology is preferred, or completion of a unit-based competency program within a specified timeframe after hire.

Additional Requirements:
Must be proficient in English, both written and spoken, and capable of performing job-related functions safely and effectively, with or without reasonable accommodation.
