Position Overview:
This role serves as the initial point of contact for patients entering our healthcare facility. It is designed for individuals working within an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include welcoming and checking in patients, confirming their information, scheduling appointments, and updating the Electronic Health Record (EHR). The position also involves facilitating intake processes such as completing healthcare and insurance documentation and collecting payments for services rendered. Building trust and rapport with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals is essential through effective communication and proficient job performance. Compliance with all organizational, local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures is mandatory to ensure privacy and safety while providing optimal patient care. Additional responsibilities may include performing specific tasks and orienting new staff members within the department.
*Travel may be required between various locations as needed.
Job Description:
EDUCATION:
- Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
- At least 1 year of recent relevant experience.
- Fundamental understanding of insurance policies and patient billing procedures.
- Ability to interpret various forms of data and instructions, whether written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with team members, supervisors, patients, and other healthcare personnel.
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and adhere to standardized policies and procedures to meet objectives and deadlines.
- General proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Capability to identify, assess, and resolve standard issues by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
- Commitment to ensuring the privacy of each patient's Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships with peers and other staff members to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
