Medical Support Assistant

Job Summary:
Seeking a Medical Support Assistant to provide exceptional patient care and administrative support to the PRC Department at the El Reno Indian Health Center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient eligibility for medical referrals and emergency call-ins, ensuring accurate documentation and resource availability.
- Coordinate patient education on the PRC program and associated requirements, promoting informed decision-making.
- Interpret medical bills and explain benefits to patients and medical providers, ensuring seamless communication.
- Process authorizations and provide information to the Fiscal Intermediary, Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico, regarding payment authorization.
- Collect accurate health insurance information from patients, ensuring IHS is the payer of last resort.
- Schedule patient appointments for PRC referred care, ensuring proper follow-up with vendors for coordinated care.
- Respond to patient inquiries, both in-person and via phone, providing timely and customer-friendly service.
- Ensure patients are informed on service priorities based on policy and procedure of the Clinton Indian Hospital IHS PRC program.
- Answer incoming department phone calls, responding to voicemail messages and calling staff and patients as needed for patient care coordination.
