Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team at Avera. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in preparing surgical tissue specimens for evaluation by producing stained glass slides of human tissue for microscopic examination.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare surgical tissue specimens for evaluation by producing stained glass slides of human tissue for microscopic examination.
- Perform a variety of standardized clinical histotechnology laboratory tests and procedures under the supervision of the Histology Supervisor and Pathologist.
- Process, embed, and microtome tissue samples for staining and examination.
- Maintain the laboratory work areas, equipment, and staining solutions.
- A minimum of an associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry or acceptance into an accredited histology certificate program.
- Certification as a Histology Technician (HT) from the American Society Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification is required or must be received within 16 months of employment.
- Day Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8 hour shifts; Start times range from 3:30 am - 9:30 am.
- Full time 80hrs/2wks; Rotate every 6th Weekend; Call every 12th weekend.
The hourly range for this position is $34.00 per hour. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
