The Assistant Superintendent plays a crucial role in aiding the oversight of construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, budget constraints, timelines, and safety regulations.
This position is integral to project teams, facilitating the planning, prioritization, coordination, and supervision of various project activities. The Assistant Superintendent collaborates with diverse trades and subcontractors, sharing accountability for productivity, optimal resource utilization, and adherence to contractual obligations. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining safety standards, identifying potential hazards, and implementing corrective measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising the overall construction process to meet project goals.
- Coordinate with multiple teams and subcontractors to ensure efficient workflow.
- Monitor safety protocols and address any safety concerns promptly.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends, to accommodate project needs and emergencies.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED; a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- At least 6 years of experience in a commercial construction setting, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction documents.
- Ability to accurately calculate material quantities for construction projects.
- Strong mathematical skills with the ability to perform calculations efficiently.
- Exceptional supervisory capabilities, with experience managing up to 30 employees and subcontractors.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite and internet-based applications.
- Availability for on-call duties to address project site emergencies.
