Job Description

Role Summary

The Special Education Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring the academic and social-emotional growth of scholars with diverse needs. This position will be responsible for managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing support to teachers, and collaborating with the Committee on Special Education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement IEPs for scholars with special needs
  • Provide coaching and support to teachers on differentiation strategies and accommodations
  • Manage and supervise Para-Professionals, Learning Specialists, and Related Service Providers
  • Collaborate with the Committee on Special Education to ensure compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) regulations
  • Lead professional development sessions for teachers on special education topics
  • Meet with teachers to discuss behavioral issues and develop action plans
  • Facilitate ARD meetings and maintain accurate records
  • Act as a liaison between the school and parents to ensure effective communication and support

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • Certified Special Education Teacher
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Working Conditions

The Special Education Coordinator will work in a school environment with a moderate noise level. The position requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting, as well as occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
