Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned ground systems engineer to support the Space Development Agency (SDA) in their mission. Recognized as a transformative force in space acquisition within the Department of Defense, SDA is responsible for delivering space-based capabilities to the joint warfighter, enhancing terrestrial missions through the development, deployment, and operation of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture. SDA employs a distinctive business model that emphasizes speed and cost efficiency by leveraging commercial development to establish a proliferated architecture and bolster resilience. The selected candidate will provide technical expertise to government program managers across various satellite vendor designs, ensuring that individual satellites align with SDA's architectural requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer technical guidance that establishes the strategic foundation for critical national capabilities and future initiatives in support of the Proliferated Space Warfighter Architecture.
  • Facilitate the development of satellite system requirements; create enterprise, system, functional, performance, and interface requirements while considering the implications of these requirements on the ground system, including acquisition points, operations center setup, and ground software solutions.
  • Provide systems engineering expertise in the formulation of test and evaluation plans, system verification plans, and other essential systems engineering documentation.
  • Oversee the integration and testing of satellites within the SDA's ground system network design and with other satellite vendors to establish a cohesive network.
  • Evaluate the technical maturity and risks associated with necessary modifications and updates to ground systems to enhance overall architectural capabilities.
  • Develop Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) for new capabilities and coordinate them across relevant organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with satellite and ground systems.
  • Technical and analytical understanding of satellite and ground system interactions.
  • Experience in systems engineering.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Possession of a TS Clearance with SCI Eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a STEM discipline or a related field.
  • Experience with Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Community clients.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
