Overview:


The Junior Accountant will utilize accounting standards and practices to evaluate financial data, generate precise and timely financial reports and statements, and uphold proper accounting control measures.

The Junior Accountant will deliver general accounting services; guarantee that all financial information is recorded accurately and punctually in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Standards as established by the NAIC, and organizational policies.


Key Responsibilities:
Daily cash posting and accounts receivable tasks, along with associated reconciliations.

Calculate and prepare funding requests and journal entries for commissions and other commission-related items as required and in a timely manner.

Investigate and resolve commission-related inquiries and other client issues within an agreed timeframe. Aim to provide outstanding customer service.
Facilitate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of the general ledger for assigned entities.
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, including recurring entries for month-end close. Consult with Senior Management regarding materiality decisions on closing entries.
Maintain well-organized documentation for journal entries and account reconciliations.

As part of the reconciliation process, assess the reasonableness of balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure all necessary entries have been recorded.

Calculate and prepare funding requests and journal entries for timely commission payments and related items.
Calculate and reconcile premium tax for designated states.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance forms for state regulations.
Assist in the preparation of ancillary audit schedules, audit footnotes, tax schedules, and tax forms.
Coordinate and communicate actions among the Friedkin affiliated companies.
Perform additional duties as assigned. May participate in or support project and process enhancement teams.

Collaborate with colleagues and FCI leaders to leverage knowledge and experience to enhance processes, procedures, and the work environment to eliminate inefficiencies.

Adhere to responsibilities in accordance with the Company's Code of Business Conduct, FCI policies and operational standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:


A Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution is preferred, along with 3 years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in insurance accounting is advantageous. Technical Proficiency - Applies current knowledge and skills necessary for the role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant PC software is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The associate is regularly required to navigate the office and corporate campus. The associate may occasionally need to travel to other locations, including out-of-state, as necessary for business. The associate must frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The characteristics of the work environment described here are representative of those an associate may encounter while performing the essential functions of this role.

While the job is primarily conducted in an office setting, the associate may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas with moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions.

The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the associate may occasionally be exposed to elevated noise levels.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimal travel is expected for this position (up to 10% of the time and on a domestic basis).
