Position Summary:
Oversee customer relations, procurement, and financial management activities associated with the designated product category to maximize profitability and enhance customer satisfaction.
Coordinate the purchasing, selling, and merchandising strategies of vendors and distributors, ensuring satisfied customers, profitable sales, and superior inventory management metrics.
Engage with customers, vendors, management, warehouse staff, and various departments including Accounting, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Transportation, and Information Services.
Act as a collaborative team member within the department and organization, undertaking any assigned responsibilities to best serve the company.
Position Responsibilities:
Maintain optimal inventory levels to fulfill customer demands. Monitor urgent and over-committed items. Enhance inventory turnover upon achieving full truckloads. Address slow-moving and obsolete inventory challenges. Consolidate low-volume, slow-turning items and suppliers.
Review urgent items, stock adjustments, receiving discrepancies, and sales reports. Negotiate purchasing terms, inbound freight rates, cash discounts, and extended payment terms. Ensure accuracy in costing and pricing, paying special attention to discrepancies and customer audits.
Process vendor returns, including entering vendor bill backs prior to merchandise departure. Collaborate with the Vice President of Purchasing on vendor bill backs. Analyze monthly reports and work with Accounts Payable to ensure timely billing and deductions for vendor bill backs.
Assist the accounting team with invoicing customers for storage and finance charges on excess inventory.
Communicate issues and solutions to Area Managers, customers, and branch personnel. Serve as the primary purchasing contact for Multi-Unit Account Managers and Executives, as well as customers.
Manage product quality concerns, including recalls, and monitor product expiration dates to ensure proper disposal of outdated items.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
4-6 years of experience in foodservice distribution and procurement.
