Job Summary
Detroit Academy of Arts & Sciences is seeking a part-time Communications Specialist - Speech Therapy to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a current Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association (ASHA).

The successful candidate will provide direct services to students in the area of expressive and receptive language, as well as support the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and evaluation processes in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE).

Main Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate students to determine eligibility for special education and/or related services.
  • Implement Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).
  • Develop and support IEP goals and objectives through both direct services and collaboration/consultation.
  • Evaluate student progress; modify goals and objectives as needed.

Requirements:
  • A Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • A current Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Valid State of Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Expertise and experience working in an urban school setting.

Benefits:
This is a part-time (15-25 hours per week) position. Salary benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Estimated salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on experience and location.
