SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

As a vital member of the KidzShine ministry at NewSpring Church, this role is dedicated to delivering engaging curriculum activities tailored for children. The incumbent is expected to fulfill all responsibilities outlined in this job description to further the church's mission while adhering to the principles of the Baptist Faith and Message (2000 edition).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Support the execution of ministry components and curriculum delivery, including preparation and follow-through. Actively welcome and engage children in diverse program and curriculum activities. Collaborate with the KidzShine Director to design and implement educational initiatives. (approx. 25%)
  • Organize, prepare, and maintain classroom environments. Ensure a safe atmosphere for children. (approx. 50%)
  • Provide childcare services in designated areas during weekend services and special ministry events. Assist with check-in/out processes to guarantee safety for both the environment and the children. (approx. 25%)
These responsibilities may evolve as the church's needs and strategies change. The employee may be asked to undertake additional tasks as necessary.

Requirements

EDUCATION/TRAINING
  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
  • CPR certification is preferred but not mandatory.
EXPERIENCE
  • At least 1 year of experience in volunteering or working within children's ministry is highly desirable.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and volunteers.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Skill in engaging young children through play, instruction, and early learning activities.
  • Possess compassion, empathy, and patience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
  • Frequent periods of remaining stationary, either standing or sitting.
  • Verbal communication with others to exchange information.
  • Ability to kneel or bend to engage with children at their eye level.
  • Regularly lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Observe and monitor surroundings from a distance.
  • Quick reflexes and movements.
  • Frequent repositioning to accomplish various tasks.
  • Occasional outdoor work may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • This position primarily operates indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks.
