Overview

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist to join the Bureau of Maternal Infant and Reproductive Health. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of programs and policies aimed at improving maternal and infant health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical guidance and support to families with infants, focusing on education and outreach initiatives.
  • Lead and manage clinical case review and abstraction process for infant death cases, working closely with clinical case abstractors as needed.
  • Assist in the development of reports and presentations on infant mortality, including causes, preventability, and recommendations for program and policy changes.
  • Collaborate with other DOHMH programs, external clinical providers, and community-based organizations to provide education, training, and consultation on infant health-related issues.
  • Convene and disseminate best practice guidelines for infant safe sleep and health, working with stakeholders, hospitals, and medical providers.
  • Participate in the development and review of medical and technical materials for consumers and providers, and assist in the development of curriculum as needed.
  • Present scientific information to various audiences, including community and provider groups, at local, state, and national levels.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess a valid license to practice medicine in the State of New York, and either a valid Board Certification or current approved application for admission to the certifying examination given by the appropriate American Specialty Board in any specialty area required by the agency.
