Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review mechanical and piping system diagrams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Create and review calculations to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Solicit technical information and quotes from vendors and suppliers to ensure best value options.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Tabulate and review bids and quotes to select the best value options.
  • Write and review technical specifications to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Develop testing criteria for successful system installations.
  • Correspond with regulatory bodies such as the United States Coast Guard and American Bureau of Shipping.
  • Verify installation of systems at shipyards.
  • Develop templates and project standards to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Automate redundant tasks and activities to improve productivity.

Requirements:

  • A four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • One to three years or more of relevant work experience.
  • Experience designing mechanical, piping, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Good electronic file organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter who can anticipate future assignments and prepare for them.
  • Ability to juggle multiple assignments with demanding schedules.
  • A positive outlook, professional demeanor, and adaptive personality.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders, pass through structural access hatches, and maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to visually inspect structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical system installations.
  • Operate electronic equipment such as cameras, laptop computers, and test equipment during the course of inspections, troubleshooting, and site visits.
  • Ability to enter construction areas and machinery spaces while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
