About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Sonographer to join our team at CommonSpirit Health. As a Diagnostic Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound tests and perform procedures in accordance with department protocols and physician orders.
  • Explain procedures to patients and respond to their questions, reviewing medical records as necessary.
  • Utilize equipment and techniques to comfort and protect patients, ensuring accurate results.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, calibration, and cleaning in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Deliver patient care for all age groups, performing ultrasound exams and procedures as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and physicians, maintaining accurate patient records and advising nursing staff of significant changes in patient condition.
  • Review and compile clinical data for physician interpretation of echo records, ensuring quality diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform incidental general office duties, including answering phones, scheduling, filing, and maintaining patient records.
  • Participate in the ordering and inventorying of equipment and supplies.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited diagnostic ultrasound/echo sonography program.
  • One year of post-graduate experience in cardiac ultrasound and/or demonstrated high degree of proficiency, knowledge, and acuity in the field of diagnostics or ultrasound.
  • Knowledge of current principles, procedures, and techniques relating to diagnostic sonographic examination and related procedures.
  • Knowledge of sonographic equipment functionality, operation, and application.
  • Knowledge of standards and regulatory requirements applicable to sonographic examination.
  • Knowledge of department protocols applicable to diagnostic examinations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomical positioning, physiology, and cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Ability to perform sonographic procedures in the area of cardiac examination.
  • Ability to convey information effectively in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to utilize independent judgment to assemble facts and meet objectives.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position.
  • Current registration by ARDMS or current certification by Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
  • Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
