Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Economics Instructor to join our team at Guilford Technical Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics courses, as well as developing and implementing effective instructional strategies to support student learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Economics courses to students at various levels, including Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics.
  • Develop and implement engaging and effective instructional strategies to support student learning and achievement.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and provide feedback to students.
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field of Economics and to advance teaching skills and strategies.
  • Provide daily and ongoing oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records.
  • Comply with all applicable college, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Economics from a regionally accredited institution, or a Master's degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in Economics.
  • Post-secondary teaching and/or professional training experience in Economics.
  • Ability to integrate technology skills into the classroom and to teach at times and locations that meet the needs of students.
  • Commitment to working constructively with all facets of our programs within a community college setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Economics from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work at times and locations that meet the needs of students, including evenings and weekends. The physical demands of the job include standing for extended periods of time and hearing and seeing.
