As a Medical Records Coordinator, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and follow a schedule of due dates for all medical records.
  • Coordinate the completion of medical records by all healthcare disciplines.
  • Review medical records data for accuracy and meet with healthcare staff as needed to ensure accuracy.
  • Complete medical records and input into the electronic health record system.
  • Verify that medical records have been transmitted and approved by the state in a timely manner.
  • Correct any rejected medical records and prepare them for re-submission.
  • Complete Care Area Assessments (CAAs) according to state guidelines.
  • Formulate Resident Care Plans (RCPs) along with the interdisciplinary care team for all residents in accordance with their needs and within the required time frame.
  • Schedule and conduct RCP meetings on a regular and timely basis.
  • Communicate RCPs to healthcare staff members and notify supervisors if noncompliance is noted.
  • Work with all in-house and ancillary departments to ensure understanding and compliance with RCPs.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Director of Nursing and/or Administrator.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse, graduated from an accredited School of Nursing and have a current, valid RN license from the North Carolina Board of Nursing and submit proof of license renewal every other year.
  • Ability to read, know, and follow personnel, department, and facility policies and procedures and adhere to local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems and medical documentation.
  • Prefer experience with RUG-IV and MDS 3.0.
