Jacobs stands as the leading provider of automotive testing facilities, offering a comprehensive range of services to clients in the automotive sector. Our clientele includes major vehicle manufacturers and original equipment producers, as well as participants from the global motorsports arena.

Our expertise spans a wide array of automotive testing facilities, including climatic and driveability wind tunnels, aerodynamic, acoustic, and thermodynamic wind tunnels, emissions testing rooms, soak rooms, altitude chambers, engine and powertrain testing cells, and electromagnetic anechoic chambers. We not only design and construct these facility systems but also manage, operate, and maintain them.

We are currently seeking an Emissions Test Technician. This is an ENTRY-level position. We will provide training for candidates with some automotive experience and a strong desire to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

Participate in the testing of complete vehicles on chassis rolls and conduct evaporative emission assessments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Installation of vehicles on chassis rolls and instrumentation setup
  • Calibration of test systems instrumentation
  • Operation of site computers and emission test facilities
  • Driving both manual and automatic vehicles to accurately follow video road speed traces for various emission test cycles
  • Validation and analysis of data.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle is essential.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An Associate's degree in Automotive Technology or two years of college coursework in automotive engineering or related fields, along with two years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience with emissions vehicle chassis rolls is advantageous.

This position includes a $750 signing bonus.

Work Environment:

Attendance Requirements:

  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 100%
  • Shift: Days - 7 am to 3:30 pm. Shift assignments may change, so flexibility is required. Overtime and weekend work may be necessary based on testing demands.
  • Regular attendance is critical.
  • Punctuality is essential.
  • Work hours typically consist of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, Monday to Friday. Consistent attendance and punctuality are crucial. Flexibility in workdays is necessary to accommodate weekend testing.

Additional Functions:

  • Must pass PMHV physical. Completion of a pre-employment drug screening, health performance evaluation, and background check is required.
  • Professional behavior is expected at all times when interacting with customers, management, and colleagues.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential. Appropriate grooming and attire are required to ensure safety.
  • Maintaining a positive work environment through professional conduct and communication is important. Reliable personal transportation to the work site is necessary.
