Your Role

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer specializing in Healthcare, you will provide expert knowledge and leadership in client interactions. Your experience in the architecture and engineering industry will be vital in guiding the strategic direction of Stantec's Health Sector engineering practice, particularly in the Seattle region. This role requires a strong focus on client relationships and strategic project leadership, while also fostering team development and growth. Key responsibilities include:

Business Development and Marketing (Approx. 25% of Time)
  • Play a pivotal role in expanding Stantec's Health Sector Engineering practice in the Seattle area.
  • Collaborate with architectural and engineering leaders across North America to enhance integrated design efforts.
  • Formulate and implement strategic business and marketing initiatives that align with organizational goals.
  • Drive revenue growth and achieve operational performance metrics in collaboration with regional leaders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and industry partners.
  • Contribute to the annual business planning and budgeting process.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at industry events and to clients.
  • Represent Stantec through articles, public speaking, and participation in industry events.
  • Assist in developing project proposals and marketing materials.
Team and Practice Management (Approx. 15% of Time)
  • Recruit and lead a team of engineering professionals, including project managers and designers.
  • Forecast staffing needs based on project demands and workload.
  • Ensure project teams adhere to technical excellence and delivery standards.
  • Manage financial performance and quality control for Mechanical Engineering projects.
  • Uphold compliance with best practices and project management frameworks.
Project Design and Delivery (Approx. 50% of Time)
  • Collaborate with project managers and subject matter experts to produce client deliverables.
  • Oversee complex projects, ensuring they meet technical and budgetary requirements.
  • Utilize engineering expertise to guide the design and execution of building projects.
  • Manage production resources to ensure timely delivery of design documentation.
  • Act as a quality control reviewer for healthcare engineering projects.
Technical Leadership (Approx. 10% of Time)
  • Stay informed on changes in the mechanical engineering and AEC industries, sharing insights with the team.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating engineering specifications and standards.
  • Oversee the healthcare engineering design process and best practices.
  • Support staff education and certification efforts to enhance technical skills.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Professional Engineering license is required.
  • Project Management Professional certification is advantageous.
  • LEED AP Credential is preferred.
  • ASHRAE Healthcare Facility Design Professional certification or equivalent is desired.
