Position Responsibilities:The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining all mechanical systems within a chemical manufacturing facility that operates continuously. This includes managing on-call duties and working night or weekend shifts as necessary.
- Conducting inspections and repairs on mechanical equipment, including pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, air diaphragm), agitators, fans, blowers, and associated sealing devices. Responsibilities also include the installation and modification of piping systems, valves, vessels, filters, and exchangers.
- Learning and applying safety inspection methods, documenting repairs in the CMMS system, and executing preventative maintenance tasks.
- Familiarizing oneself with maintenance department SOPs and understanding plant processes and associated hazards. Adhering to safety policies and procedures is paramount.
- Engaging in safety committees, reporting near-misses, investigating incidents, and conducting safety inspections. Proper documentation of work orders in the SAP system is required.
Knowledge and Expertise: Specialized knowledge and skills are essential for this role.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to pass routine physical examinations and drug screenings.
- Capability to lift and manage loads of at least 50 pounds from floor level to a standing position.
- Regular walking, climbing stairs, and navigating ladders and scaffolds in various environments.
Equipment Proficiency:
- Experience operating power tools such as drill presses, band saws, and grinders.
- Ability to operate welding equipment and cutting tools.
- Experience with plant vehicles, including forklifts and boom lifts.
- Proficiency in using basic hand tools and measurement/testing equipment.
Personal Attributes:
- A self-motivated individual with a strong focus on quality and safety.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn from and mentor others.
Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional technical training, coursework, or apprenticeship experience is preferred.
