Charleston, West Virginia, United States Oracle Full time
Job Overview

We are encountering various engineering challenges in essential foundational data-plane services that drive the next generation of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

We seek an individual who can question existing engineering paradigms and limitations, leveraging their expertise in large-scale, high-performance, reliable, and available system engineering to elevate critical OCI data-planes.

This is a unique opportunity to create innovative solutions for our clients from the ground up.

Our team is dynamic and rapidly expanding, working on ambitious initiatives such as delivering a canonical implementation of core components for data planes via a data-plane runtime framework, developing a remote persistent storage solution with latency and performance akin to that of a local NVMe drive, and creating standards and tools to pinpoint critical performance enhancements across OCI data-planes.

We are in search of self-driven engineers who possess a passion for and expertise in tackling complex system, data-plane level, and performance challenges.

The ideal candidate will be a proficient developer capable of delving into low-level systems, designing extensive distributed system interactions for high-performance, high-scale data-planes.

You should appreciate simplicity and scalability, thrive in a collaborative, agile environment, and be eager to learn.

With your exceptional technical, research, and analytical skills, along with a proven ability to accomplish the right tasks swiftly and effectively to satisfy our customers, you will envision, collaborate with executives for investment, and spearhead the software design and development for new major data-plane components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure.

You will lay the groundwork for the next generation of OCI data-planes, making profound architectural modifications as an exemplary builder and technical leader with a solid industry track record of success in steering large cloud-scale projects.

Career Level: IC5

Key Responsibilities

Experience managing cloud services or large distributed applications in production.

Strong proficiency in C/C++ with expertise in low-level and performance-critical system design and service development.

In-depth knowledge of distributed system design and scalable cloud-native application deployment.

Practical experience with the following technologies: Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Linux operating systems/kernels, device drivers, performance testing tools, distributed debugging tools, and high-performance distributed storage.

Excellent team player with outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Comfortable navigating complex, rapidly evolving software development environments.

Ability to quickly learn new technologies and drive, follow, advocate for, and enhance cross-team processes.

Expert understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts and technologies.

Experience collaborating with geographically distributed teams.

Significant work experience in startups or fast-paced enterprise technology development environments.
