Software Development Engineer

WOOD Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a talented Software Development Engineer to become a key member of our innovative development team. Security Clearance Requirements

All applicants must be U.S. Citizens and hold an Active Secret clearance, with the capability to obtain TS/SCI. Candidates must also be eligible for DHS suitability prior to commencing employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as Python and JavaScript.
  • Experience with frameworks including Angular, Django, and Alation Data Intelligence.
  • Familiarity with Configuration Management and Version Control practices.
  • Utilization of version control systems (e.g., Git) for managing code repositories.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including designers, product managers, and fellow developers.
  • Experience with Elastic Cloud Enterprise and AWS Redshift.
  • Involvement in CI/CD processes, deployment, and DevOps methodologies.
  • Engagement with deployment tools and automation processes to enhance deployment pipelines.
  • Collaboration with DevOps teams to refine the development and deployment workflow.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
    • Two years of relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education.
  • A minimum of 6 years of directly applicable experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Proven track record as a Software Development Engineer or in a similar capacity.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Strong skills in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Experience with server-side languages (Python, Ruby, Java) and server-side frameworks.
  • Knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL), database design, and optimization techniques.
  • Understanding of RESTful API development and integration.
  • Awareness of web application security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills.

Desired Certifications

  • One or more of the following certifications in good standing: CISA, GCIH, GCED, CISSP, CASP, or Security+.
  • AWS certifications such as Cloud DevOps Developer Associate, SysOps Administrator Associate, Advanced Networking Specialist, or Security Specialist.
