About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Resources Engineer to join our team at JT Engineering, Inc. in Wisconsin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading projects related to stormwater management, hydrology, and hydraulic modeling/design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Develop Stormwater Management Systems: Ensure regulatory compliance by designing and developing stormwater management systems, including detention/retention ponds, infiltration systems, and conveyance channels.
  • Perform Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling: Use HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, and AutoCAD Civil 3D to assess water flow, flood risks, and drainage capacity.
  • Evaluate and Design Stormwater Systems: Evaluate and design stormwater systems, including conveyance and detention/retention ponds, to ensure efficient and effective management of stormwater runoff.
  • Collaborate with Project Teams: Collaborate with project teams to integrate water resource solutions into transportation and site development projects.
  • Prepare and Review Environmental Reports: Prepare and review environmental reports, permits, and impact assessments to ensure regulatory adherence and sustainability.
  • Lead and Manage Water Resource Projects: Lead and manage water resource projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and team coordination.
  • Provide Technical Expertise: Serve as the primary client contact, providing technical expertise, ensuring project goals, and supporting proposal preparation.
  • Conduct Site Inspections: Conduct site inspections and oversee construction to ensure design specifications are met.
  • Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Stay updated on industry trends and technologies, applying innovative solutions to water resource management.
  • Mentor Junior Engineers: Mentor junior engineers and technical staff in water resource engineering.
  • Ensure Quality Work: Ensure quality work within guidelines, assist with project budget management, and adhere to Quality Control processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, focusing on Water Resources or a related field.
  • 5+ Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience in water resources engineering, emphasizing stormwater management.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License: Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling: Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM).
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS Software: Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS software.
  • Local, State, and Federal Water Regulations: Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal water regulations.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Watershed Planning and Floodplain Management: Experience in watershed planning, floodplain management, green infrastructure, LID practices, and SWPPP (preferred).
  • Sustainability Certifications: ENV SP or other sustainability certifications (a plus).
  • Valid Driver's License: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Authorized to Work Permanently: Authorized to work permanently in the country.
  • Willingness to Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally for work or professional development.
