Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Internal Auditor to join our team at the Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County. As an Internal Auditor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of our risk management, internal control, financial reporting, service delivery, and governance processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform assigned audit projects independently, utilizing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve our processes.
  • Plan and conduct client meetings and communications to achieve mutually desired results.
  • Independently research and employ multiple methodologies to collect data and analyze results.
  • Assist with the development of audit scope, objective, methodology, preliminary planning, individual and group interviews, and program development.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative data collection, transference, and reproduction.
  • Handle meeting agenda and results documentation, work paper preparation, indexing and organization, entrance and exit conferences, report and correspondence preparation.
  • Perform assigned audit quality assurance support duties, including work paper review and verification, and cross-reference checking report review and data verification.
  • Pursue professional certifications and continued professional growth in the field.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • One (1) year of internal or public accounting auditing experience.
  • Valid Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in government auditing standards.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
