About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Product Owner to join our team at Royal Caribbean Group. As an IT Product Owner, you will be responsible for driving efficiencies in your respective portfolio, reducing any negative impact to the business by delivering support within SLA and agreed costs. You will proactively promote opportunities for additional cost saving or increased revenue, identify areas for improvement, and provide solutions and technologies to aid business partners to meet strategic goals.

This role covers both business and technical arenas, often simultaneously, across the global organization, with frequent interactions with external vendors or products. Budget maintenance and staff management are key to ensuring efficiencies are effectively delivered to the business and ensuring staff development, providing continuity and succession.

Key Responsibilities

The IT Product Owner will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of additions, deletions, and major modifications to active systems and the implementation of new systems.
  • Overseeing troubleshooting system issues as required.
  • Working with project teams to implement changes and new developments.
  • Overseeing all help desk activities.
  • Responding to escalated help desk issues.
  • Facilitating team meetings effectively.
  • Holding regular status meetings with the team.
  • Keeping the team well-informed of changes within the organization and general business news.
  • Effectively communicating relevant IT-related information to the business.
  • Delivering engaging, informative, and well-organized presentations.
  • Understanding how to communicate difficult or sensitive information tactfully.
  • Relaying relevant IT-related information to the company in a timely manner.
  • Serving as the main point of contact on all IT-related matters for the assigned business unit.
  • Understanding business goals and challenges.
  • Responding to and acting on upper-management direction.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and making constructive suggestions for change.
  • Managing the process of innovative change effectively.
  • Effectively utilizing each team member to their fullest potential.
  • Motivating the team to work together in the most efficient manner.


Financial Responsibilities

The IT Product Owner will be responsible for:

  • Having a solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities.
  • Ensuring efficient utilization of staff and non-labor resources.
  • Having a solid understanding of IT estimation activities.
  • Being accountable for financial implications relating to the cost of systems and services.
  • Being responsible for identifying business process optimization opportunities to manage expenses.


People

The IT Product Owner will be responsible for:

  • Managing direct reports, ensuring they are motivated, provided with clear objectives, personal development, and ongoing performance appraisals.


Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer or information science or a business degree.
  • The equivalent proven management and leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the business/technical field or in a related area.
  • Proven strong capabilities of handling multiple areas of responsibility.
  • Extensive knowledge across business areas of how technology delivers increased performance.
  • The ability to identify opportunities and detailing ROI and effectively present to a wide-ranging audience with conflicting priorities.
  • Evidence of a high degree of creativity with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
