The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is in search of a dedicated and dependable individual committed to ensuring a clean and safe environment for the campus community. This role involves performing various tasks to uphold campus cleanliness, organization, and aesthetic appeal, including assisting with outdoor responsibilities such as snow removal and salting entrances and pathways. The duties are executed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards.

Work Schedule:

This position typically operates on a schedule from Sunday to Thursday, 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. It is essential for this role to be present during inclement weather and on designated holidays.

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time position, requiring forty (40) hours per week. The starting pay is $16.79 per hour, with an additional $0.80 per hour shift differential for hours primarily worked between 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM. Key Responsibilities:

The following tasks represent a sample of the essential duties associated with this position:
  • Cleaning designated rooms and/or facilities according to specified guidelines.
  • Utilizing cleaning machinery and equipment effectively.
  • Executing facility setups and breakdowns as instructed.
  • Monitoring supplies and materials in assigned areas, alerting supervisors as necessary.
  • Clearing snow from walkways and building perimeters using appropriate tools.
  • Employing equipment for seasonal or routine maintenance tasks.
  • Adhering to safety protocols, including reporting any mechanical or safety concerns.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The ability to work in challenging weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime, including nights and weekends.
  • Capability to work independently while following both verbal and written instructions.
  • Physical ability to perform manual cleaning and labor tasks, including snow removal.
  • Commitment to following safety policies and procedures.
This position can be physically demanding, requiring activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical assessment is mandatory.

With or without reasonable accommodation, candidates must be able to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and/or exert 20 pounds of force to move objects. Candidates must also be capable of standing for extended periods and possess the flexibility for bending and reaching.
