Position Overview

This role is integral to the Retail Division of Timber-Lee Ministries and encompasses responsibilities related to staffing, training, scheduling, procurement, inventory management, and the overall functioning of the various retail facilities.

The position also provides support to multiple program sectors within Timber-Lee, including but not limited to: Saddle Horn Ranch, Science Center, Timber Challenge, Guest Services, and Ministry initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Timber-Lee's retail establishments, which include the Camp Store, Acorns Canteen, Science Center Gift Shop, and Blue Spruce Store.
  • Assist in formulating and executing strategic plans aimed at enhancing operational performance.
  • Manage employee scheduling, shift expectations, stock rotation, and inventory oversight.
  • Comprehend the overarching ministry strategy and effectively communicate and embody the organization's core values to foster teamwork among ministry personnel.
  • Evaluate the retail landscape and implement necessary adjustments to uphold the ministry's competitive edge.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential new products and assess items for discontinuation.
  • Provide weekly updates, significant milestones, developments, and any pertinent information to the supervisor.
  • Ensure loss prevention through training and monitoring of store staff regarding inventory protocols, product handling, and cash management policies.
  • Address and resolve operational customer issues appropriately.
  • Assist with inventory management, budgeting, and logistics for the Leathershop as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards and proper signage in the retail environment at all times.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels through effective product ordering practices.
  • Organize merchandise attractively to optimize sales opportunities.
  • Guarantee the quality and freshness of products available for sale, along with accurate product signage.
  • Adhere to all established company policies and procedures while safeguarding the confidentiality of documents and data.
  • Support Outdoor Education classes as needed across various departments, including Saddle Horn Ranch, Timber Challenge, and Science Center.
  • Assist with various Ministry events and programs, including retreats, recruiting events, and staff gatherings.
  • Contribute to the broader mission of Timber-Lee Ministries by engaging in assigned tasks and projects.
  • Perform hosting duties at least once a week.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

Spiritual:

  • Must be a professing Christian, committed to a lifestyle aligned with biblical principles.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to embodying the Christian lifestyle through thoughts, attitudes, actions, and behaviors.
  • Supports Timber-Lee Ministries' Statement of Faith and aligns with its Mission Statement and Core Values.
  • Exhibits a genuine love for the Lord and a desire to lead others to know Him personally and grow in their faith.
  • Able to share the gospel and pray with others.

Positional:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail setting preferred.
  • Prior management experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Skilled in providing prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Ability to build rapport and foster open communication for the growth of team members.
  • Competent in interpreting and applying company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to set goals and ensure the quality and completion of work assignments.
  • Skilled in evaluating and enhancing personal and team performance.
  • Understanding of management principles related to budgeting and personnel costs.
  • Proficient in basic math skills for financial transactions.
  • Able to operate a cash register accurately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capable of maintaining organization and multitasking effectively.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds and navigate the varied terrain of Timber-Lee.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
