Overview

The OSF HealthCare Surgical Technician Education Stipend is a program designed to support students enrolled in the IVCC Surgical Technician Certification program. The stipend provides selected students with financial assistance to help cover program costs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients across the lifespan based on physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
  • Perform duties as a scrub person throughout the intra-operative phase of care.
  • Recognize significant conditions and reactions, and notify the RN, Charge Nurse, Anesthesia provider, and/or physician as needed.
  • Adhere to high standards of patient safety principles and aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Follow and understand standards and recommended practices according to the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Enrollment in IVCC's Surgical Technician Certification program
