Join Our Team as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Ambulatory Float Pool

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is designed to blend clinical expertise with theoretical understanding to effectively address the needs of patients and their families. This role is pivotal in supporting the healthcare team in preventing illness and injury, promoting wellness, and ensuring patient comfort. Additionally, the LPN will provide guidance, education, and begin to take on leadership roles within the unit.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver and meticulously document direct, age-appropriate care to patients or groups of patients in accordance with medical directives and a comprehensive, multidisciplinary care plan.
- Safely administer prescribed medications while recognizing potential incompatibilities and interactions.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Current LPN licensure in Virginia is mandatory.
- AHA BLS Certification or equivalent is required.

Experience:
REQUIRED:
- Experience may vary based on transitional duty assignment.

PREFERRED:
- Previous experience as an LPN in an acute care environment or relevant practice area.

Educational Background:
REQUIRED:
- Graduation from a Board of Nursing accredited School of Practical Nursing.

PREFERRED:
- Not applicable.

Independent Actions Required:
- Adhere to documented physician or licensed independent provider orders, standards, and practice guidelines while organizing work to fulfill assignments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Not applicable.

Additional Position Requirements:
- Age-specific groups served as relevant to transitional duty assignment.

Physical Requirements:
- Physical: Ability to lift weights as required.

Other Considerations:
- Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious materials.
- Activities may include prolonged standing, sitting, frequent bending, walking distances, climbing, and reaching.

Mental/Sensory Requirements:
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Emotional Requirements:
- Ability to maintain a steady pace, manage frequent and intense interactions with customers, and adapt to a dynamic environment.
