Utility Maintenance Associate

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Utility Maintenance Associate to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our club, ensuring a positive experience for our members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Cleaning
    • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning duties, including wet and dry mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, carpet extracting, washing glass, emptying trash receptacles, and pulling pallets.
    • Operate floor scrubber, trash compactor, and cardboard baler machines in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Cart Management
    • Gather and return carts and flatbeds from the parking lot to the club entrance.
    • Ensure carts are well-stocked at the club entrance.
    • Verify that all carts are in working order and clean.
  • Grounds Maintenance
    • Maintain the outdoor grounds of club property, including cart corrals, sidewalks, and outdoor trash receptacles.
  • Supply Management
    • Restock maintenance/cleaning supplies and ensure supply areas on the receiving dock and maintenance closets are clean, neat, and organized.
  • Customer Service
    • Provide prompt and courteous service to members, answering questions and addressing concerns.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior maintenance or janitorial experience preferred, but not required.
  • Prior retail/wholesale experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds and use a pallet jack to pull and push pallets.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Working Conditions

  • Most of the time is spent moving about on hard surfaces, with frequent bending, climbing, crawling, pulling, reaching, stooping, and climbing ladders/step stools.
  • Frequent exposure to company-authorized cleaning agents and occasional exposure to paint and company-authorized chemicals.
  • Exposure to both indoor and outdoor temperatures, as well as occasional exposure to extreme temperatures in freezers and coolers.
