Position Summary

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for ensuring a clean and safe environment within the hospital premises by performing tasks in accordance with departmental protocols and requirements. Work schedules may include weekends, holidays, and various shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform sweeping, dust mopping, and wet mopping of floors and stairways as necessary.
  • Conduct daily auto-scrubbing of VCT, porcelain, ceramic, and quarry tile surfaces.
  • Deep clean patient room laminate floors according to the established schedule.
  • Execute hard floor care procedures on VCT surfaces, including stripping, preparation, finishing, deep scrubbing, and burnishing.
  • Spot clean carpeted areas on a daily basis.
  • Extract carpets, including in elevators, as per the cleaning schedule.
  • Deep clean restroom floors according to the schedule.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in an organized and sanitary manner.
  • Perform cleaning tasks in designated areas, including patient rooms, nurses' stations, examination rooms, and public areas.
  • Complete any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in environmental services or the ability to demonstrate proficiency within a specified timeframe.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to follow instructions.
Physical Requirements

The role may require the following physical activities:
  • Remaining stationary for extended periods.
  • Moving around the work environment.
  • Using a keyboard and operating specific equipment.
  • Ascending or descending ladders or equipment.
  • Transporting and positioning items of varying weights.
