WestCare Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor, you will be responsible for delivering clinical substance abuse treatment to clients participating in our program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete assessments of each client using required assessment tools.
  • Initiate and sustain each individual's motivation to participate in treatment using techniques of engagement.
  • Develop comprehensive service plans for each client, including short- and long-term treatment goals and objectives.
  • Provide daily treatment and curriculum-based education groups on therapeutic communities, emotional incarceration, relapse prevention, and other relevant topics.
  • Assist clients in developing self-help groups, such as AA/NA, to support their recovery.
  • Maintain individual client treatment files and ensure confidentiality.
  • Provide general client supervision and planning of therapeutic activities.
Requirements:
  • Clinical certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience providing alcohol and substance abuse counseling services.
  • Knowledge of offender populations, criminal subcultures, and substance abuse assessment tools.
  • Intake and assessment experience preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
Working Conditions:

The work is primarily performed in an institutional setting, with some outdoor activities required. The employee must be able to perform the following essential duties and activities with or without accommodation:

  • Requires mobility and physical activity, including standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires talking, hearing, and seeing to complete paperwork and observe client behavior.
  • Requires the ability to work under stress and in emotionally charged settings.
