Lead Brewer

Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling is on the lookout for a skilled Head Brewer to spearhead our brewing and cellar activities at our facility. This pivotal role involves managing the entire production process, from wort creation to final cellaring, ensuring that we uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency in our brewing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage Brewing Operations: Oversee all brewing activities, including the operation of a state-of-the-art semi-automated brewhouse, while adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Supervise Cellar Processes: Develop and implement effective cellaring procedures to guarantee the production of premium products.
• Recipe Innovation: Collaborate with the Production Manager to create new recipes and enhance existing ones through innovative techniques.
• Enhance Production Efficiency: Identify opportunities for improvement in both production processes and quality assurance.
• Production Oversight: Maintain accurate records of production and batch data, ensuring thorough documentation and reporting.
• Team Development: Mentor and lead the brewing and cellar team, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment.
• Quality Control: Uphold stringent cleanliness and safety standards in all brewing and cellar areas.
• Engage with Customers: Participate in customer interaction activities, sharing insights and enthusiasm for our products.
• Raw Material Procurement: Manage the sourcing of high-quality raw materials for beer production.
• Logistics Coordination: Operate equipment to facilitate the movement of supplies and products, ensuring a smooth production workflow.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in a production brewery, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership capacity.
• Formal education or certifications in brewing are highly preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of the brewing process and related equipment.
• Proven leadership skills with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work autonomously and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Experience in customer engagement and a passion for the brewing industry.
• Comfortable operating a box truck and forklift (certification available).
• Knowledge of safety and compliance standards is advantageous.
• High School Diploma or GED required; valid Driver's License is necessary.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
