Electronics Systems Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Technician to join our team at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. As an Electronics Technician, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising plans for various security systems, including Intrusion Detection Systems, Automated Access Control Systems, Police and Fire Communications, and Closed Circuit Television systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement plans for security systems, including IDS, AACS, Police and Fire Communications, and CCTV systems.
- Manage projects and programs for long-term replacement of security equipment and develop preventative maintenance programs for security systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot issues during installation and provide resolutions.
- Investigate electrical failures or damages and prepare reports, including remedial action to prevent further occurrences.
To be considered for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience developing, implementing, coordinating, auditing, establishing standards, testing, and supervising plans for IDS, AACS, Police and Fire Communications, cabling, site-specific lighting, CCTV, audio, fiber optic, and peripheral systems.
- Experience managing projects and programs for long-term replacement of security equipment and developing preventative maintenance programs for security systems and equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting in the identification and resolution of problems encountered during installation, grooming, or testing phases for security efforts and providing repairs as needed.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Additional vacancies may be filled by this announcement. The incumbent must qualify for and maintain a Limited Radiation Worker Certification within a year from being hired and obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance with Nuclear access.
Work is primarily accomplished at NNSY in Portsmouth, VA, with occasional travel to other duty stations throughout the Hampton Roads area and in other temporary assignments in shipyards in other parts of the United States.
