Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team at the Virginia Department of Health. As a key member of our team, you will provide guidance and support to clients, utilizing your knowledge of social and vocational case management and counseling methods to develop individualized service plans.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance and support to clients, utilizing your knowledge of social and vocational case management and counseling methods to develop individualized service plans.
- Assist clients in identifying and referring them to available federal, state, local, and private resources to assist with their needs.
- Educate clients on clinical and other relevant procedures and coordinate client care and community resources.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing emotional support, health and safety information, and community referrals.
- Experience and knowledge of family services principles, practices, and ethics.
- Ability to promote appropriate programs and be a positive role model and mentor for clients.
- Strong verbal and communication skills, with the ability to interview and gather data effectively.
- Excellent case management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to adhere to confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
