Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Inspector I to join our team at the City of Great Falls, MT. As a key member of our Planning and Community Development department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of building projects to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Review and evaluate building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections and permit approvals.
  • Investigate complaints of alleged unsafe building conditions and process cases in accordance with city policies and procedures.
  • Recommend changes to inspection methods and safety standards to improve efficiency and update regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience in construction or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ICC Commercial Building Inspector and Residential Building Inspector certifications.
  • ICC Plans Examiner certification.
  • Valid Montana driver's license.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments, including tight spaces, outdoors, and on ladders. The employee must be able to perform medium physical work and lift up to 50 pounds.
