Position Overview:

The Behavioral Health System Baltimore, Inc. is seeking a qualified Medical Consultant to provide expert medical consultation services within our organization. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of care for individuals facing severe mental health challenges and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

The Medical Consultant will engage in various critical functions, including but not limited to:

  • Clinical Consultation: Collaborate with the Clinical Services Team to offer medical insights and recommendations, ensuring effective treatment plans for clients.
  • Risk Management: Participate in weekly reviews of high-risk cases, providing guidance to mitigate potential risks associated with client care.
  • Quality Improvement: Work alongside BHSB and service providers to develop and implement strategies aimed at enhancing service delivery and treatment outcomes.
  • Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for provider staff to improve their understanding and application of best practices in behavioral health.
  • Performance Review: Analyze audit documentation and performance improvement plans, offering recommendations to advance compliance and service quality.
  • Harm Reduction Initiatives: Oversee the prescription and distribution of naloxone as part of harm reduction strategies, ensuring adherence to established protocols.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Medical Doctor (M.D.) with completed specialty training in psychiatry.
  • Board certification in psychiatry, with a preference for additional certifications in addictions psychiatry.
  • Active medical license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • A minimum of three years of clinical experience, with administrative experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with the public behavioral health system and services available in the local area is advantageous.

Compensation:

The consultant will receive a competitive hourly rate, with a structured compensation plan based on the hours worked and services rendered.
