Animal Care Specialist

This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of patient facilities in the veterinary teaching hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Remove manure and soiled shavings/bedding in patient stalls and kennels
• Clean and disinfect discharged patient stalls
• Prepare new patient stalls as directed by Lead Caretaker or Supervisor
• Clean and maintain small and large animal areas on a regular basis
• Assist DVM's, Technicians and Students as needed
Requirements
• Comfortable in handling, cleaning and working in close proximity with small and large animals
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
• Ability to work for long periods of time with arms extended
• Ability to work with cleaning solutions and strong animal odors
• Ability to wear protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles, etc.
Working Conditions
This position involves working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to animals, cleaning solutions and strong odors. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in this environment and maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization.
