We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Radiation Oncology Program.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver therapeutic doses of radiation to patients as prescribed by physicians, adhering to safety standards and protocols.
- Participate in the construction and preparation of immobilization devices, beam directional devices, and beam modification devices.
- Apply principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care, ensuring accurate documentation and timely completion of radiation therapy treatment.
- Perform tumor localization, make adjustments to ports as required by physicians, and report patient progress and side effects to nurses and physicians.
- Schedule patients to maximize efficiency and productivity, and administer contract agents according to procedure guidelines.
- Must have completed a Radiation Therapy Program and be eligible for Certification.
- Meets the current requirements of the Iowa Emergency Management Association, Department of Nuclear Safety for the position of Radiation Therapist.
- Experience organizing multiple tasks, working with diverse groups of people, and ability to work independently and self-direct work activities.
- Detail-oriented and able to meet established deadlines, with Certification within 3 months of starting in the position from ARRT.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, knowledge of operational methods and safety standards of all equipment producing ionizing radiation within the department, and competence with computer functions and skills relevant to radiation therapy department.
