Position Overview:
The State of Wyoming is in search of a Heavy Equipment Technician to join our dedicated team. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on diesel and automotive machinery, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive preventive maintenance and repairs on a range of diesel and automotive equipment.
  • Perform safety inspections on all types of vehicles and machinery.
  • Utilize technical manuals to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Fabricate and rig new equipment to meet district specifications.
  • Create and manage repair orders and maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Design and manufacture parts for specialized applications in tractors and other machinery.

Essential Knowledge:
  • Proficient in diesel and automotive maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Understanding of electronic principles and diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with both light and heavy-duty automotive components.
  • Knowledge of lubrication specifications and general servicing protocols.
  • Awareness of safety policies and procedures in the workplace.

Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience in Heavy Mechanics.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Alternatively, an Associate's Degree with 0-2 years of experience in Heavy Mechanics may be considered.

Working Conditions:
Technicians must be available for emergency calls, including nights and weekends, and are required to report to the shop within a specified timeframe. This position involves:
  • Frequent use of hand and power tools.
  • Daily operation of heavy machinery.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds and prolonged periods of standing or sitting.

Additional Information:
This role includes a monthly tool allowance and may require occasional overnight travel. The State of Wyoming is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace and adheres to E-Verify protocols for employment eligibility verification.
