About the Role

Peak North America is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer and Drafter to join our Advanced Sawmill Machinery team in Holt, FL. As a key member of our multidisciplinary design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing accurate and detailed models and technical drawings for machinery and components using AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop custom equipment utilizing AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.
  • Create fabrication details, assembly drawings, and installation packages, ensuring all necessary specifications and measurements are included.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication and installation of new equipment.
  • Field measure of existing facilities.
  • Design and modify machinery and components to meet specific customer needs and optimize performance.
  • Work closely with engineers and project managers to understand design requirements and incorporate feedback into designs.
  • Ensure all design files, drawings, and revisions are accurately documented and stored in the company's database for future reference.
  • Ensure that all designs comply with industry safety standards and company protocols, incorporating necessary safety features into the designs.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting.
  • 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in heavy equipment & machinery design, experience in sawmill/forest industry a bonus.
  • 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD required.
  • Ability to use SolidWorks and Master-Cam considered an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to travel within the region as needed.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical principles, with a keen ability to apply this knowledge in practical settings.
  • Ability to follow directions and collaborate effectively within a team, both in-person and virtually, while contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in both verbal and written communication, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.
