Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician 2 to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a Pharmacy Technician 2, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to patients and nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to competently work in different areas of pharmacy practice, including general and specialized areas.
  • Participates in the training of new employees and ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
  • Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner and ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information and operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • 6 months minimum relevant experience required
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required
  • CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required
Physical Demands

Job requires standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs.
