Job Title: Early Head Start Teacher

Job Summary:

The Salvation Army Eastern Territory is seeking a qualified Early Head Start Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our infant and toddler program, you will be responsible for providing high-quality early childhood education and care to children aged 6 weeks to 3 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a curriculum that addresses the individual needs of children and promotes their cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Supervise and support child care staff and volunteers to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Monitor and maintain the classroom environment, including cleanliness, health and safety, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with the room staff team to develop and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of children and families.

Qualifications:

  • Clearance through NYS Central Registry required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum three years related experience required, with one year experience working with children aged 6 weeks to 3 years.
  • Child Development Associates (CDA) Credential required.
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a day care setting.
  • Must meet NYS/Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations requirements.
  • Must meet health standards for OCFS licensing, be able to lift up to 40 pounds, and participate in all developmentally appropriate activities.
