Job Title: Pre-School Teacher

Job Summary:

The Salvation Army Eastern Territory is seeking a qualified Pre-School Teacher to join our team. As a Pre-School Teacher, you will be responsible for providing high-quality early childhood education to our young students. Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive curriculum that addresses the individual needs of children and promotes their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Support and supervise child care staff and volunteers, promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and maintain the classroom environment, ensuring a safe and healthy space for children to learn and grow.
  • Assess and monitor the developmental level of each child, conducting regular assessments and facilitating referrals for evaluations as needed.
  • Ensure completion of all paperwork on a timely basis, including attendance, meal counts, lesson plans, and daily health checks.
  • Participate in meetings, including initial orientations, supervision, team meetings, and in-services, to stay up-to-date on best practices and policies.
  • Engage in ongoing teacher-parent communication to facilitate parent participation and involvement.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and integrate understanding into daily responsibilities, promoting a culturally responsive and inclusive environment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Must currently have or be actively working towards the NYS Teacher Certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Background Screening, Drug Test, Physical, and TB Test required.
