Overview:
The primary focus of the Lead Systems Engineer – Valving & Systems role is to spearhead the development of cutting-edge consumer products within a dynamic and collaborative cross-functional team environment.

The Lead Systems Engineer is expected to merge exceptional technical expertise with a collaborative spirit, innovative thinking, and business acumen to guide complex system products from the conceptual phase to full-scale production.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive collaborative atmosphere while working alongside cross-functional teams, including marketing, program management, industrial design, and manufacturing operations, to ensure timely and budget-conscious product delivery.

  • Preferred candidates will have a background in electromechanical systems, integrating pumping, valving, heating, refrigeration technologies, and electronics prototyping (e.g., Arduino, Breadboard).
  • Utilize a comprehensive understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, including casting, forging, stamping, injection molding, welding, tube bending, and hydroforming.
  • Contribute to and leverage a diverse, global engineering organization.

What You Will Be Doing:
Create:
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing and Industrial Design to establish product specifications informed by consumer research, market insights, and sales feedback.
  • Define system-level requirements for a complex product family and work closely with internal or external engineers on subsystem component design and integration.
  • Analyze consumer behaviors and competitive products to devise solutions that deliver innovative and enhanced value to customers.
  • Conduct high-level feasibility assessments on initial product concepts.

Refine:
  • Coordinate concept development across mechanical, electrical, and software teams across multiple global regions.
  • Own technical requirements and oversee engineering execution.
  • Act as the primary engineering liaison with the cross-functional team and leadership.
  • Ensure the application of best practices to understand and optimize system design through FEA, CFD, and Design of Experiments.
  • Develop and refine concepts utilizing 3D modeling software (Creo), FEA, and CFD.
  • Employ tools such as DFMEA and engineering design critiques to identify and mitigate high-risk failure modes.
  • Leverage our advanced on-site prototyping and testing facilities to create physical prototypes that validate product features.
  • Collaborate with our internal manufacturing team and suppliers to balance cost, performance, quality, and project timelines.
  • Validate product value through consumer and/or human experience research.

Implement:
  • Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stacks, and develop detailed technical drawings, adhering to engineering standards and GD&T.
  • Optimize designs using DfM (Design for Manufacturing) principles to ensure reliable, stable, and efficient mass production.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance through comprehensive product verification test planning.
  • Support manufacturing ramp-up by providing on-site feedback during pre-production builds.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • A minimum of 4 years of mechanical engineering experience, including collaboration with electronics engineering for electromechanical systems.
  • Proficient in CAD modeling.
  • Hands-on fabrication and prototyping skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and domestically as required.
