Job Title: Instructional Designer

Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry. We develop products and services for use throughout the lifecycle of an offshore oilfield, from drilling to decommissioning. We operate the world's premier fleet of work class ROVs. Additionally, we are a leader in offshore oilfield maintenance services, umbilicals, subsea hardware, and tooling. We also use applied technology expertise to serve the defense, entertainment, material handling, aerospace, science, and renewable energy industries.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a professional Instructional Designer to design and develop learning and practicing experiences. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. The Instructional Designer will initially focus on Oceaneering's Mobile Robotics business segment and may support other business segments over the long term.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.
  • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience's training needs.
  • State instructional end goals and create content that matches them.
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product.
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods.
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.).
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner's performance and develop assessment instruments.
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders.
Requirements:
  • Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology.
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills.
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System.
  • Visual design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard.
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.
  • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology, or equivalent experience (5 yrs. plus).
Desirable:
  • Basic HTML and Adobe Animate programming knowledge.
  • Knowledge of video editing using Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects.
  • Exposure to, or knowledge of competency systems and development.
  • Experience with SumTotal is a real plus but not essential.
  • Use of Articulate storyline 3 or 360 and Adobe Captivate as e-learning development tools.
