Job Summary

As a Precision Ag Coordinator at Southern States Cooperative, you will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation and delivery of precision agriculture programs to customer farming and production sites. This position requires a strong understanding of GPS, GIS, crop consulting, field scouting, and data management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement precision agriculture plans for assigned territories, working closely with SSC counterparts to identify potential customer farmers and producers.
  • Provide technical assistance and sales support to customers, utilizing effective communication skills to explain the benefits and technical aspects of precision agriculture tools and services.
  • Utilize GPS and GIS tools to map customer sites, integrate grid and contour soil sampling results, and monitor soil properties, growth conditions, and crop stress.
  • Analyze and interpret customer data, providing real-time advice and recommendations based on accurate and actionable information.
  • Assist customers with resolving issues and concerns, escalating complex issues to appropriate counterparts and managers as needed.
  • Develop and maintain productive business relationships with area farmers and agricultural community members, promoting the SSC brand and business philosophy in a positive and customer-focused manner.
Requirements
  • A combination of completed coursework and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Precision Ag Technology, Plant & Soil Sciences, Agribusiness, or a related field.
  • Up to one year of experience in the agricultural industry with knowledge of best practices related to farming and crop production.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License as required.
  • Certified Crop Advisor (or ability to obtain) and ability to learn and develop technical skills for use of precision agriculture tools, equipment, and systems.
Work Environment

This position requires frequent travel to customer sites, SSC local facilities, and an office setting. The work environment may involve exposure to hazards, including odors, fumes, and hazardous chemicals associated with agricultural products and equipment.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating customer-focused interpersonal skills and business savvy. A strong ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in-person and via telephone, is essential for this role.
